[wb bump 01]

hopefully the first of many such silly toonami style bumps to come. I spent approximately 50% of my time on the beat and the remaining 90% of my time (wait that's not how percentages work) on the vocal takes and treatment. I'm learning by ear how to do this shit and that's a little silly since there's tons of tutorials n shit to be had on this. Guess some people (me) like to learn the hard way (poorly).

If we ever get the weeklybeats radio thing going, I'd love to contribute more bumps and interstitials like this. Shitty legalese incoming: Though the license here says all rights reserved, any existing community member (loosely defined as someone who has created music and uploaded it here on weeklybeats in years past) who wants to run a "weekly beats radio" broadcast (live or prerecorded), has my permission to use this song as a bump/interstitial unmodified and without compulsory attribution, provided they prohibit the use of their broadcast or recording for ingestion or training by AI. A reasonable summary: if you prohibit AI from using your weeklybeats radio program (trust me I am aware they have never cared for permission before, it's just the principle of the thing), you can use this toonami style bump in weeklybeats radio without needing to credit me (which I believe would break the kayfabe of this being a legitimate interstitial in the radio program).

As an aside: I wouldn't mind some kind of license update that includes expressly forbidding AI use in the license. I would be happy to put up some much more permissive licenses on some of my weeklybeats for other folks to use/remix/sample/etc whatever if I could also forbid its use as training data or prompt data or really at all touching any AI generative music or audio shit at all.

💯 on the AI front / licensing suggestion. This community’s good people, but it can’t hurt to put up protections or policies against passing web scrapers with no real interest in what we’re doing here.

Moving on, great track! The beat’s solid and you’ve got a great radio voice. 😎

Yeah it's definitely as a deterrent to threats from without, not really worried about any WBer.

Super pro sounding interlude here! Very cool stuff

Agreed on the AI front, great idea!
nd yeah, I love the thought of this being a toonami-style bumper ad, hahaha... It would fit perfectly in there!

Hell yeah that jungle beat with the slippery synth bass fucking rips. I also love the tone of the synth arp.

LOL! This is perfect! I was listening to WB while making dinner and this was an awesome “ad” to suddenly pop up in the middle!

I want to make a playlist of WB music and put this as every fourth song. Absolutely love it.

"And later Gundam Wing"... ˚‧º·(′̥̥̥ ꆚ ‵̥̥̥)‧º·˚ Yeah I agree too it would be nice if there was some updates to CC licensing with regard to AI training and usage... though with some of the stuff in the new EU AI Act regarding AI watermarking, there is hope.

Fingers crossed on finding time to pull together WB radio... It's amazing how fast WB + regular ass life over whelms aspirational goals for more "extra curriculars"

The vocal processing definitely reads TOM 4+; pretty good Steve Blum style reading too, like you nailed his TOM cadence.  And then the beat is like DEAD on for a Toonami bumper, perfect break beat vibe... certainly made me feel the need to go watch Bleach for like 3 hours.

Dude I’m about to have more time to work on some wb radio would love to collab

jump directly into my discord DMs asap

hell yais this would be awesome on the podcast/wb_radio love da breaks and sparkly synth line.

I love the concept of this. Just dynamite.

Spot on for the style. Love the jazzy arps. Break chops are ace. Agree with Napear about your TOM impression. But my favorite bit is around 0:23-0:25, when the drums pause for a second and the crash comes back in like a rocket.

ha LOVE THIS! and sickest drum beat too, and great radio voice.

btw sucks that the AI goons are taking so much mental space from artists, I wish they would all just go eat a big block of cheese over the sink and do something else for the betterment of humanity instead. but I agree with the spirit of everything you wrote in the descr.

Beautiful vocal processing, sounds so good on my headphones.
That beat is sooo smoothe and clean, def need a full track of this!

Such a fun idea

The licenses are provided by Creative Commons. We can only hope they do some legal magic to involve AI at some point.

Cute little bump, but now you have to make a Gundam Wing song to follow up.

The percussion in this is so dope. Love it!

weekly beats radio is a great idea. surprised nobody has done that yet.
*patiently awaits for Gundam Wing*

I need mooooaaaar.
Great beat!

I'm ready for more after the break!! !! !!

I love little clips like this! So fun! Back in 2024 for an M8 community jam, I did a "radio scroll" where I played clips of my songs, but then like scrolling through an old radio dial. This would be perfect for stuff like that!

LOL this was awesome
unfortunately you are under arrest because it is under 60 seconds
please head directly to WB jail
(you get one phone call and one track upload)
